Employment rate in Romania reaches almost two thirds in Q2 2023
Employment rate of the Romanian population aged between 15 and 64 stood at 63% in Q2 2033, while in the 20-64 group, the share reached 68.7%, according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Romania’s economically active population was 8.127 million people, 7.689 million of whom were employed and 437,400 unemployed.
Official data reveal that the employment rate in the working-age population (15-64 years) in Q2 2023 was 63%, up 0.1 percentage points from Q1 2023.
Male employment was higher than female employment, 71.4% to 54.5%, and so was urban employment against countryside employment, 68.6% to 56.9%. Youth employment was standing at 18.5%.
Unemployment by gender was higher in the case of male unemployment against female unemployment, 5.8% to 4.9%, while countryside unemployment was higher than urban unemployment by 5.3 percentage points, 8.3% to 3%.
By age group, the highest unemployment rate of 21.2% was reported in the age group 15-24 years.
