The best Romanian researchers, both from the country and from the diaspora, „will receive millions of euros” for their research projects, through the Centers of Excellence competition, announced on Wednesday the Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization, Bogdan Ivan, on Facebook.
According to Ivan, it is about an investment worth 320 million euros for „the best Romanian researchers”, agerpres reports.
The Center of Excellence competition takes place during the entire period of implementation of the National Research Development and Innovation Plan, with the annual approval of the ministry.
The funding from the state budget granted for a project is a maximum of 100,000,000 RON. The allocated public budget is a maximum of 1,600,000,000 RON.
The projects will run for an initial period of 60 months, with the possibility of extension up to 84 months. In order to extend the project, in the last 12 months of financing from the initial period, the activity of the centers of excellence is evaluated. The results of the evaluation can determine if the financing will continue or not.
The projects are evaluated by experts, doctors of science, with internationally recognized scientific activity. Each project proposal is evaluated, from the point of view of scientific quality, independently, online, by at least three expert evaluators.
