Project aimed at increasing life expectancy of cancer patients, children and young people
The PAVEL Association has started a new social aid project aimed at increasing the life expectancy of cancer patients, children and young people, told Agerpres.
According to a press release, the aim of the project is aimed at increasing the life expectancy of cancer patients by offering complex socio-psycho-educational services, complementary to medical services, as well as material and financial support to cover some of the needs arising during treatment and investigations (purchase of medicines), medical investigations/medical devices, transport needs, hygiene products, clothing and clothing needed in hospital, as well as additional food as recommended by the doctors, etc.).
The project „P.A.V.E.L. Services and Resources Centre – Support for children and young people with oncological diagnosis” is financed by the National Company „Romanian Lottery” S.A. and has a duration of 10 months.
The target group is represented by 500 children and young people diagnosed with oncological diseases, patients of the onco-paediatric and paediatric haematology wards aged 0-26 and their families. The beneficiaries are patients of the Fundeni Clinical Institute and the „Prof. Dr. Alexandru Trestioreanu” Bucharest Oncological Institute.
„The children come from all over the country and generally belong to families that are social cases (recipients of social aid/guaranteed minimum income), and the main source of income is the child allowance and the companion’s allowance that the mother usually receives while the child is in treatment,” the press release points out.
